Readme File for 3D Blaster VLB Software Update
==============================================

This is the Readme file for the 3D Blaster VL-Bus (VLB) - Software
Update package. This package contains the latest drivers for 3D Blaster
VLB (Windows 95 only) - which support Microsoft's Windows 95 DirectX API.

With this set of software drivers for the 3D Blaster VLB card,
you can run DirectX games at a higher resolution and at a playable speed.

NOTE: We do not install the DirectX drivers. The DirectX drivers are
usually included in the games that make use of DirectX, or can be
downloaded from Microsoft's World Wide Web site at http://www.microsoft.com

This software package also includes the Creative BlasterControl utility
which provides added functionality to your 3D Blaster VLB card.

1. How to install the 3D Blaster VLB Software Update
   =================================================

   To install the 3D Blaster VLB Software update, simply follow these
   steps:

	(a) Ensure that your 3D Blaster VLB card is installed in your
	    PC, and that the original software which accompanied your
	    3D Blaster VLB package has also been installed.

	(b) Click on the Windows 95 Start button, select Settings, and
	    select Control Panel.

	(c) Double-click on the System icon to bring up the System
	    Properties page. Click on the Device Manager tab, look for
	    Display Adapters (double-click on this if it is not expanded)
	    and then double-click the Creative Labs 3D Blaster entry.

	(d) Click on the Driver tab, and then click on the Change Driver
	    button. This will bring up the 'Select Device' screen.

	(e) Click on the 'Have Disk' button. At the 'Install From Disk'
	    dialog box, indicate the location where the files from the
	    3D Blaster VLB Software Update package can be found.

	(f) At the second 'Select Device' screen, ensure that Creative Labs
	    3D Blaster is highlighted, and click on 'OK'. You are now
	    returned to the 3D Blaster Properties page. Click on 'OK'
	    and the file updating process will begin.

	    Note: On occasion you may be prompted again to indicate the
	          location of files during the copying process. If this
		  happens, please re-enter the location of the files.

	(g) At the end of the file copying process, you will be prompted
	    to restart your PC. Click on 'Yes' to do so.

2. Additional Points To Note
   =========================

	(a) Microsoft DirectX requires 4MB of memory on the 3D Blaster
	    VLB for effective execution. Therefore if you are interested
	    in playing DirectX games on your 3D Blaster VLB, it is strongly
	    recommended that you acquire the 2 MB upgrade module for this
	    card.

	(b) DirectX games are designed to run optimally on PCs with Pentium
	    processors. Hence, if you own a 486 machine, the speed performance
            of a DirectX game may not be as high as on an equivalent Pentium
            machine.

        If you have any enquiries on the 2 MB upgrade modules, please
	approach your regional Creative Technical Support Centres for more
	information
